第十屆世界童軍大露營

The 1959 World Scout Jamboree in the Philippines, the first in Asia, hosted 12,000 Scouts from 69 countries.

1959 年世界童軍大露營在菲律賓舉行，這是首次於亞洲舉辦的世界童軍大露營，共有來自 69 個國家的 12,000 名童軍參加。

 

The 10th World Scout Jamboree, held in 1959 at Mount Makiling in Laguna, Philippines, marked a significant milestone as the first World Scout Jamboree hosted in Asia. Dubbed “The Bamboo Jamboree” due to the local bamboo and nipa palm structures, this event gathered around 12,000 Scouts from 69 countries, showcasing a vibrant exchange of cultures and Scouting traditions. Among the attendees was a specially selected contingent of 105 Scouts from the UK, who embarked on their journey by air—an expensive and logistically complex endeavor. The money was raised through various fundraising efforts, reflecting the dedication and resourcefulness of the Scouts and their communities.

第十屆世界童軍大露營於 1959 年在菲律賓呂宋島拉古納省的馬基靈山（Mount Makiling）舉行，象徵著童軍運動的重要里程碑。由於營地建築多以當地竹材與尼帕棕葉搭建，因此被稱為「竹之大露營」（The Bamboo Jamboree）。這場盛會匯聚了來自世界各地的童軍，展現出豐富多元的文化交流與童軍傳統。

其中，英國特別選派了 105 名童軍代表團，搭乘飛機前往參與。這趟昂貴且複雜的旅程所需資金，是透過各種募款活動籌得的，展現出童軍與社區間的奉獻精神與創造力。

The Jamboree’s theme, “Building Tomorrow Today,” emphasised the role of Scouting in fostering global unity and peace, a fitting message in the post-war era. The event also saw the participation of significant figures, including the President of the Philippines, Carlos P. Garcia, who spoke at the opening ceremony, further highlighting the importance of this international gathering.

本次大露營以「今日築明日」（Building Tomorrow Today）為主題，強調童軍在促進全球團結與和平中的關鍵角色，這一訊息在戰後時期尤顯意義深遠。菲律賓總統卡洛斯·P·賈西亞（Carlos P. Garcia）亦親臨開幕典禮發表演說，進一步彰顯這場國際盛會的重要性。
